It seems that not many Australians we talked with knew much about South Durras or Murramarang National Park. However, it was one of our favorite stops on our honeymoon, and definitely the most underrated place we stayed!
"Abel Tasman was beautiful, but we felt as though we had already seen it in Murramarang."

The day we visited Abel Tasman was gorgeous and sunny, but it wasn't as exciting as everyone told us it would be. After thinking about it for a while, we realized it was because we had already seen a similar place recently. Abel Tasman was beautiful, but we felt as though we had already seen it in Murramarang.
Both Abel Tasman and Murramarang were very similar in the following aspect: the best part of each is that you hike through beautiful forests and come out on remote beaches. The key difference was that we had entire beaches to ourselves in Murramarang, while Abel Tasman was a little more crowded with tourists. In addition, we saw whales and other wildlife in Murramarang, and took a nap on a remote black sand beach without the slightest sign of other human life nearby. Conversely, in Abel Tasman, the water was a little more turquoise and the sky was brighter.
