A couple days in Panama City

After an amazing time sailing from Cartagena to Panama, we had to get to Panama City, from where we would depart for Boquete.
We got picked up by a speedboat (not as cool as it sounds) that drove us to the mainland, where we got a 4x4 to take us to Panama City. We wondered while on the boat, why we couldn't just get a bus. Once we started driving we could understand why. Driving to Panama City from El Porvenir (the mainland next to the San Blas Islands) was more like riding a rollercoaster. The roads went up and down, filled with sharp curves, and lots of jerks from the manual transmission.
We arrived safely after a couple hours and spent most of our time in Panama City lounging in our hotel room and dong laundry. We caught up on the blog, Hannah's photography business, and Skyped with our parents a bit. Most importantly, we had a really nice shower. After almost a week at sea, we really needed that shower.
We did eat at a really good taco place called, Taqueria Mordida de Burro (we ate here twice!) and saw the Panama Canal, which was really cool! We suggest getting there around 8:30 to see one or two ships go through the locks!
Overall, Panama City is a fine place for a stopover, but we can't recommend staying here for more than a night or two at most.
